The next innings will start at 11.30 a.m and will end at 1.15 p.m. The session will wind up at 1.30 p.m. 6. There will be a schedule prepared for the laying of mat which starts at 8.30 a.m. This schedule will contain a list of 6 members who will be required to be present at the ground at 8.30 so that they can carry the mat, lay it on the pitch, fasten the nails and prepare the ground for the session. This schedule will also contain the list of 6 members who would be completing the rolling of the mat, removing nails etc after the sessions are over. Hence every week there will be 12 members responsible for this. Members are requested to adhere to the schedule. If any of the six members is not able to keep up this schedule, he should inform the organizer of the sessions 1 or 2 days prior to the sessions so that alternate arrangements can be made. Members are requested not to misuse the exception. II) Saturday Game rules1. Every week there will be two different captains for the practice matches on Saturday. The names of the captains will be announced on Friday by mail based on the response from members on availability.2. The captains for the practice matches will be from a list of 8 members. These 8 members would be selected based on their performances in the season so far and also on the basis of their willingness to lead teams for the practice matches. Hence there will be 4 different sets of captains for 1 month of practice sessions. These 8 captains will be mixed for the next month so that they face a different captain from the 8 for the next month of practice sessions. 3. The captains for the week will chose their teams from the available members at 9.15 a.m on Saturday. The captains based on the batting and bowling strengths of members will divide the teams so that the teams are evenly balanced. 4. The captains should ensure that the teams are completely different from the teams that played the previous week. 5. The batting team will provide the umpire for the innings. 6. The fielding team captain has to ensure discipline inside the field. Only he can talk inside the field. No fielders should talk or yell inside the field. A fielder to express any suggestion has to walk up to his captain and talk to him and that too at the end of the over. If the umpire feels that the game is held up due to prolonged discussions at the middle of overs, then the umpire has the right to advise the captain to get along with the game. 7. The umpire makes the final decision. There should be no dissent to any umpire decision. 8. If there is a dispute it has to be sorted outside the field after the innings is over with the umpire. Inside the field there can be no arguments of any kind. 9. The umpire has the right to declare a no ball when he hears the fielders talking when the ball is to be bowled. Rules Continued...10. Fielders who have been loaned by the batting team to the fielding team should not indulge in any kind of cheering for their batsmen. Once inside the field, they are part of the fielding team. Hence they are not even allowed to talk to their batsmen. If the captain of the batting team is also a fielder and if he wishes to pass some message to the batsmen then he has to do this at the end of an over. 11. No foul language is allowed inside the field. No member inside the field has the right to abuse a fielder, batsmen or a bowler. 12. If a person has been declared out, he cannot bat again. The only exception to this rule is when the teams are not evenly balanced with respect to the total number of players in the team. If a team has one player short than the other team, then the batsmen who has scored the least number of runs in that innings will be allowed to bat again only after all the wickets have fallen. He will be considered as one more wicket and will join the last man. If more than one player have the same number of runs then it will be to the captain’s discretion to chose between the two players. 13. The last man option will be applied when there are less than 11 players in a team. 14. If there are 16 or more members for a match then the six over rule comes into effect. The six over rule allows a pair of batsmen to bat a maximum of only six overs. If they are not out at the end of six overs, they come out and the next pair of batsmen get in to bat. If a batsman is out before the six overs then the next batsman comes in and he will bat for six overs starting from the over he came in. The six over rule ensures that all members get a chance to bat when they come for the practice session. 15. The batting team captain should ensure that all his team members are given an opportunity to bat. Only when all members have batted, should the Retired batsmen come in to play again. There can be no exception to this rule. If the fielding captain feels that this rule has been broken then he can talk to the umpire and bring this point to the notice of the batting team captain. 16. The number of overs a bowler can bowl will be based on the duration of the match played. If it is a 1 hour 20 minutes game and if there are five bowlers equally distributed between both teams then each bowler can bowl 4 overs. This does not mean that this is a 20 over game. The number of overs will still be decided only by the cut off time. If it is a 1 hour 45 minutes game and if there are five bowlers equally distributed between both teams then each bowler can bowl 5 overs. This does not mean that this is a 25 over game. The number of overs will still be decided only by the cut off time. 17. A member coming in for a Saturday session has to manage his time accordingly. He has to ensure that he is available till 1.30 p.m. on a Saturday. If he feels that he has to leave before 1.30 then he has to inform Arun Paul/organizer by mail 1 or 2 days prior to the game. If there is an emergency he can inform his captain on the field and leave any time. If there are only 16 or less members then the session will wind up at 12.30 p.m. But members have to ensure that if they have confirmed to attend a session then they have to be prepared to stay till 1.30 p.m. 18. If a member feels that he would be able to attend the practice session but will be late for the session can inform Arun Paul/organizer 1 or 2 days prior to the game. But if he feels that he cannot make it to the ground by at least 10.00 a.m. then it would be better for him not to attend the session. 19. Members are requested not to misuse Rules 17 and 18. It would be beneficial for the club if all members come to the sessions on time and leave after the session is over. These two rules are for personnel who have work duties even on Saturday and for those who have some commitments, which are unavoidable. III) General rules of the Club1.
